Exmoor Rotary: Events
The club organises a number of events throughout the year. Some are for fun, some are youth projects, and some are to raise funds for charities. The largest event we run is the Rotary Exmoor Youth Challenge in which over 400 young people are involved.

The club is now highly involved in the organisation of the historic Bampton Charter Fair which is enjoyed by many thousands of visitors in October. We take part in the event to help the local community, and also to raise funds for charity. The last Thursday in October |

A national competition based up a public meeting. Teams of three pupils where one introduces the speaker, one gives a talk on a chosen topic for 5 minutes, and one thanks the speaker. In this area we have pupils from Years 6-7.

COMMUNITY SUNDAY LUNCH - for charity Originally held in January 2005 to raise funds after the tsunami disaster, this has become an annual event! In 2006, funds were raised for Shelterbox, and a 3-course carvery lunch was greatly enjoyed by nearly a hundred local people. Next one - January 2018 |

This is an annual challenge issued between the two neighbouring Rotary Districts 1170 and 1200 - the District producing the most successful walks wins! In this amiable competition, a great deal of money is raised by sponsorship.

Over 120 teams of 4 young people take on a gruelling hike across Exmoor. There are two age groups, and both junior and senior teams walk 16 miles but seniors are required to do the course in a shorter time. Juniors must be over 10 and under 14 years on the previous 1 Sept ; Seniors must be under 17 years on 1 Sept

SENIOR CITIZENS TEA PARTY A large coach full of local 'senior citizens' is taken for an afternoon out to some lovely location and of course partake in a cream tea. Shown here, the bus going to Lynmouth with 53 elderly people accompanied by 9 Rotarians and helpers for an afternoon out.

In common with all other clubs, the Rotary Santa comes to town! Just before Christmas, the club organises street collections, carols, and Father Christmas produces sweets for the children. And money is raised for a variety of local charities and causes.
